KINGDOM COMMUNITY WIND
Scope of Work:
Krebs and Lansing was the civil site design engineer for a 21 wind turbine facility along the ridgeline of Lowell Mountain, in Lowell, Vermont. The site features a proposed 2.5 mile (+/-) long access road, originating at VT Route 100, to reach the ridgeline; approximately 4.0 mile long crane path atop the ridgeline to access and construct 21 wind turbine assemblies; and a new substation with a maintenance building and parking located approximately 1.3 miles up the access road.
Krebs and Lansing was responsible for the design of civil site engineering improvements, including all access roads, crane paths and turbine sites for the wind farm component of the project. We compiled all site drawings and environmental data for design drawings and land use permitting. We maintained extensive coordination with the Contractor regarding specific wind turbine generator site development needs. This coordination allowed for an efficient, practically constructed project that minimized the environmental footprint necessary to construct the project. We designed innovative stormwater treatment practices in line with High Elevation Stormwater Procedures issued by the State of Vermont. We also provided support for all permitting activities related to wetlands and water bodies, designed access and obtained permits for access onto the Route 100, and coordinated surveying and mapping of the wind farm site and of transmission line improvements.
