UVM DAVIS CENTER
Project Summary:
The 186,000 square foot Dudley H. Davis Student Center at the University of Vermont opened in 2007. The Davis Center was the first student center in the United States to obtain a LEED Gold Certification for New Construction from the US Green Building Council. As the civil engineer for the project Krebs and Lansing worked closely with the design team to help achieve sustainable site credits related to stormwater design and permitting as well as a multi-phased site specific erosion prevention and sediment control design. Other responsibilities for the project included providing the base topographic survey mapping; design and permitting for a new water main around the building site; design and permitting of a new gravity sewer collection system; the stormwater collection design which included facilitating the design of an in-situ style pipe lining for an existing storm pipe that crosses under the tunnel below Main Street; road design and circulation planning for large delivery vehicles; sidewalk, and subbase design for other hardscape surfaces; as well as site grading and transition designs for all existing features around the site.
